Christmas has come early this year for Duduza residents, Victor and Zandile Ncala having recently received a R50 000 grant from the Ekurhuleni Peermont Chambers of Commerce Trust (EPCoCT) to improve their enterprise, Ncamanzi (Pty) Ltd.

The Ncala’s started the company, which provides accounting, bookkeeping and tax consulting services in 2013 after Victor, a qualified professional tax practitioner, was involved in a car accident which resulted in him suffering from hearing loss and subsequently losing his job as a financial executive.

Without funds he (Victor), assisted by Zandile, an experienced admin person with administrative qualifications, have been operating the business from an internet café in Duduza.

Thanks to the funding from the Trust, a BBBEE vehicle within the Peermont Hotels, Casinos and Resorts group which is funded by Emperors Palace, they have been able to move into their own premises and purchase three desktop and two laptop computers, accountants’ user software, payroll software and a multipurpose printer.

They have also used some of the funds for set up costs and are currently getting the premises, in Zulu section, Duduza in operational shape so they can start building their business in earnest in 2016.

“Our primary stream of revenue has been coming from the sale of tax services to individuals and small and medium businesses and assisting small business owners with preparing their yearly tax returns during the primary tax season (July to November),” says Victor.

Now, due to the grant and the equipment and software they have, they can also provide bookkeeping and accounting services which will primarily consist of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger management, income statement, and balance sheet and cash flow management in conjunction with accounting software suites such as Pastel Evolution Sage and do UIF monthly declarations for clients.

Apart from this concern the Trustees of the EPCoCT have also granted funding of a further R820 657 to five other community-based small business projects, which fall in the Emperors Palace catchment area, during the past year.

This brings the total funding provided by the Trust since 2008, when it gave its first grant, to just under R22-million with 46 businesses assisted and nearly 400 jobs created.
