Solomon Zucule (19), eMbalenhle, UP: Solomon was born and raised in eMbalenhle situated 10km from Secunda. He was the top achiever at his school in maths and science and obtained 100% for physical science. Besides academics he also loves to play soccer. |

Phindile Gule (21), Kinross, TUT: Phindile is the last born from 4 children, she grew up in Kinross, Mpumalanga. “I lost both of my parents at a very young age, and my older brother and my grandmother have been looking after us ever since. My brother has always been the father figure for me and is very protective of me”. |

Cindy Mahlangu (20), eMbalenhle, WITS: “I am from a family of 5, my mother and I and 3 other siblings. I grew up as a very ambitouss child and was often in trouble because I loved exploring. Now I have grown up to be a young women, driven by passion and independence.” |

Mphoma Mokhethi (19), eMbalenhle, WITS: Mphoma was born and raised in eMbalenhle in Mpumalanga. She lives with her grandmother, older brother and two other cousins. In 2015 she had the misfortune of losing her late mother. “In grade 12, I was ranked 2nd and I was ranked in the top 15 best learners at the Sasol merits awards”. |

Sthembiso Mtsweni (20), Leandra, WITS: “I’m from Leandra, Mpumalanga, a place where you don’t just dream big and wait for miracles to help you achieve whatever it is that you want in life. I grew up living with my mother who did everything in her power to make sure that I went to bed with a full stomach”. |
